One of the first things guests ask us, usually before the bags are even upstairs: where's the good coffee? Fair question. Here are two spots on Hurontario Street, right downtown, that we send people to all the time. This is a test post for the new Journal flow, so please don't publish it.
Gibson & Company is a cafe by day and a cocktail bar by night, in a vintage-inspired room that makes you want to stay for a second cup. Their take-away wine program is a favourite of ours, with lots of natural wines. Our order? A bottle of wine for later, honestly. It's a short walk from the inn and an easy morning stop before a day out.
Espresso Post has been a downtown coffee and bakery stop for a long time, and it shows. Espresso, pastries and a quick bite, done well. Grab something warm and wander Hurontario for a bit before you head back.
Coffee in hand, the walk back to the inn takes a few minutes. The garden is waiting, and so is a hammock if the weather is on your side.
And when you check in, ask. We'll happily point you at another cafe.
A thermal cycle, Brooky’s Wine Bar and ten rooms in historic downtown Collingwood.
Best rate, guaranteed. Find it lower and we’ll match it.
New posts, local finds and the odd quiet weekday, a couple of times a month.
