Our Purpose

STAYS THAT DO GOOD FOR OUR PEOPLE, COMMUNITY AND PLANET

At Somewhere Inn, our mission is to inspire guests to get away, spend time in nature, and foster connections with the community around them. The location for Somewhere Inn was purposefully chosen—we are surrounded by nature and we believe it has the power to restore and reset. And since nature has provided us with so much, we equally believe that we have a responsibility to give back. Our purpose extends beyond our guests and their experience; stays at Somewhere Inn do good for our people, our community, and our planet.

OUR PEOPLE

Our obsession with creating exceptional experiences applies not only to our guests, but also our staff.

We are 2SLGBTQI+ inclusive business and believe that staff should always feel comfortable showing up as their authentic self. As a Rainbow Registered business we are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming and accepting experience for our staff and guests.
+ We feel very strongly that our staff’s wage reflects the immense impact that they have on our guests. We are proud to be a certified Living Wage employer, and offer a fantastic benefits package.
+ We know that a career in hospitality comes with a unique set of challenges, so we work closely with Not 9 to 5, a non-profit global leader in mental health advocacy for the service and hospitality industries.

OUR COMMUNITY

We are a basecamp for adventure and exploration. We are passionate about the people and places in our backyard, and want our guests to be too.

+ Our friendly staff are local experts—their role is to help you plan guests’ next adventures, recommend the perfect skin-contact wine, or provide the chill vibe guests need to reconnect with themselves.
+ As board members for our local tourism organizations, we have an active voice in the future of our tourism communities.
We collaborate closely with local breweries, restaurants, tour operators, and small businesses to make sure guests get an authentic locals-only-know experience.

OUR PLANET

The connection we have with nature is universal—we believe that nature provides everything we need and a connection to it has the ability to restore and reset.

+ We acknowledge the land on which we are working is located on unceeded Algonquin and Anishinabek traditional Territory. We are grateful that Indigenous People have been stewards of this land and beyond from time immemorial and share it with us today. We are called to treat this land, its waterways, plants, animals, stories, and its Peoples with honour and respect
Trees help clean the air we breathe and filter the water we drink. We have partnered with One Tree Planted to restore forests and create habitats for biodiversity in Canada. For each nightly stay we plant one tree on behalf of our guests.
We never take for granted the water and energy we use. We strive to minimize our carbon footprint by analyzing our environmental impact at every stage of our guests’ experience. In Calabogie, $5 of each nightly stay contributes to our Climate Fund, which contributes to continually innovating to reduce our climate footprint.
