About the Job

As a member of the front desk team, you are the face of our brand. You will be interacting with guests all day, every day! Key responsibilities include managing guest communications, bookings, room-service delivery, restocking the lobby shop and coordinating cleanings with housekeeping staff. Your #1 goal is to ensure guests have the best experience possible.

You Are

Approachable, thoughtful, outdoorsy, cool and fun. You love to let your personality shine. You are energized by interacting with guests. Things like compassion and empathy come easily to you. You love a new challenge, view learning as a lifelong exercise and hold yourself to a high standard. You are a team player and don’t mind lending an extra hand to housekeepers and the General Manager on busy days. You are comfortable using iPhones, iPads and apps to interact with guests and keep track of tasks. You are proud of the Ottawa Valley and love to share it’s magic with guests. And most importantly you have a passion for hospitality. At minimum, you have a high school education. Post-secondary training in tourism is great-to-have. Hands-on experience in hospitality is a bonus.

About COVID

The safety of our staff, guests and community is our top priority. We abide by health regulations from local, provincial and federal health authorities. We also expect you to abide by regulations outside of work as your actions will directly impact guests and other staff. We expect staff to wear masks 100% of the time while on property, even when alone, and engage in frequent hand washing.

What You Can Expect from the Interview Process

Part 1: Phone Interview. We will ask you situational questions to understand how you would approach various scenarios. For example: what would you do if 3 guests all asked you for something at once?

Part 2: In-person interview. We will ask you more situational questions. Plus, we will ask you to do some homework and come prepared to talk about it. Your assignment:

Three different groups are staying at Somewhere Inn.

  • A couple on their baby-moon;
  • A group of four friends; and
  • A bachelor party of 8 people.

They are all looking for recommendations on where to go and what to do while staying with us. Your task is to plan separate what-to-do itineraries from sunrise to sunset for each of the three groups.
