Travel Collingwood with Your Dog

Let’s be honest, when you have a dog, they’re kind of running the show. Your plans, your pace, even where you sit at a restaurant… it all revolves around them. And really, that’s the best part. When your dog is happy, relaxed, and along for the adventure, the whole trip just feels better.

The good news? You’ve picked the right place. Collingwood (and the surrounding area) is incredibly dog-friendly. Think patios that welcome them without hesitation, trails made for long wanders, and plenty of spots where they’re just as much a guest as you are.

Beautiful Walks For You and the Pup

If you ask me where to start, I’ll always say head straight to Sunset Point Park. It’s easy, beautiful, and right on the water. Perfect for a slow morning coffee walk or a golden-hour wander. It’s one of those places where you don’t need a plan… just start walking.

If you’re looking for something a little more adventurous the Loree Forest Trail is a favourite. Think quiet forest paths, a little bit of elevation, and that satisfying “we earned this glass of wine later” energy. It’s not too intense, but just enough to feel like you’ve properly gotten out into nature, which is kind of the whole point of being here.

Where To Eat

One of the best things about Collingwood? You don’t have to overthink where to eat. Most patios are dog-friendly, especially in the warmer months, so you can follow your mood and still land somewhere great.

Everyone loves the Caesar Bar! They have every caesar you can think of (and yes apparently there are different types of caesars) and they’re  known to spoil your dog with treats, which, let’s be honest, earns them instant loyalty.

If you’re up for a short, scenic drive, Polpetta’s patio is always worth it. Located in Thornbury, right by the dam, the patio overlooks Beaver River and you and your dog have soooo much space to relax. Whether you’re looking for a comforting pasta bowl or an aperol Spritz, they’ve got you covered.

Pints + Pups

For something super easygoing, breweries are always a good call.

At the ultimate duo, Endswell Beer and Later Pizza, it’s all about pizza, pints, and a laid-back atmosphere where no one blinks if your dog stretches out under the table. It’s casual in the best way. Their cozy couches make you want to stay longer!

Side Launch Brewing Company is another classic. It’s spacious, lively, and Mamacita, the taco truck parked outside, is soooo yummy. It’s pretty easy to settle in and stay a while. This is one of those “just one more drink” places that turns into a full afternoon.

A Little Something Different

If you feel like mixing things up, take a short drive to the Thornbury Antique Market. It’s one of those wonderfully random, treasure-filled spots where you can wander for ages- vintage finds, strange oddities, and things you didn’t know you needed. Even better, your dog can come along for the adventure, which makes it feel less like shopping and more like exploring.

Rest and Reset

And then, of course, there’s coming back to Somewhere Inn, which might be the best part of the whole day. Somewhere Inn is a dog friendly hotel!

This is your cue to slow down. Have a glass of wine, find a hammock in the garden, and just… be. You’ll relax into it faster than you expect. Your dog will be happy laying in the grass being  entertained by squirrels and new smells.

It’s low-key, a little indulgent, and exactly how a weekend away should feel.
